Historically the hands-on work such as the shelter and rest area at the Pines has been developed by the Gary Lions. To continue their project, an area has been set aside along Hwy. 32 north of the shelter. Past Lion members or members of the community can purchase a memorial tree or shrub in honor of a loved one and have it planted in this area. A memorial marker or plaque will be placed by the tree or shrub for the loved one. The original planted took place in May 2017 but room is still available.
